Cycling to Health
Nowadays, within business world, it is clear that contemporary social and economic flows have formed a new aspect of business communication among people, thus creating new professions, occupations and expert fields. A job of a manager belongs to a group of those that have, by the end of the 20th century, become one of the most distinguishable and profitable professions. Being a manager, especially in developed countries of the West, has become a matter of prestige and reputation. Increasingly over the years, the whole concept has become contemporary business and life ideology, which tends to propagate new social and business elite at the beginning of the 21st century. In the developed countries managers have already started forming their own lobby, their social foundations and standards. Moreover, they have their own unique psychology which has inevitably caused the development of illnesses typical for managers.
The causes of so called "manager illness", among the others, are to be found in stress, being a part of everyday lifestyle of all businessmen, particularly of managers. The influence of stress on managers bears a greater problem with it since it can influence on successfulness or unsuccessfulness of the work done. Management represents a complex business process with emphasized interpersonal communication characteristics. In the matter of stress sources, those characteristics have different risk levels, depending on the position of a manager, since it is not the same to be a general manager on the top, or a lower positioned production manager, administrative, or on the other hand, being a manager in an developing company or the one in a developed organization with a great number of problems. Therefore, managing stress is one of the most important elements for having a long and successful manager career.
How to Handle Stress?
It would be naïve to believe that it is possible to provide manager working area and offices cleared of stress factors. For that reason it is advisable to "allow" each manager to provide for himself/herself ways of decreasing stress, in other words, one should find those activities within oneself which take him/her away of all business influences and "recharge batteries". Regular exercising belongs to a group of those "medicines" available for nowadays managers. It is well known that regular exercising cannot be replaced by any other drug, while at the same time many drugs can be replaced by exercising. Choosing the right kind of exercising and frequency of doing it, depends on individual characteristics and the needs of each person, but the results are equal for all – exercising decreases stress and it has no contradictions.
One of the possible "medications" that we would like to recommend is – cycling.
